Questions

How does scoped sensitivity work in CS2?

While scoped, the view turn is multiplied by zoom_sensitivity_ratio_mouse × scope FOV ÷ 90. With the default ratio of 1 the first AWP zoom (40°) turns at 40/90, or 0.444, of the normal speed.

Which zoom_sensitivity_ratio_mouse value gives a 1:1 match?

For the mouse to move the picture the same distance at the centre of the screen as unscoped, the ratio has to be tan(FOV ÷ 2) × 90 ÷ FOV. For the first AWP zoom that is 0.818933, for the second 0.787. The ratio is one value for every scope, so choose the scope you use most.

Where do the FOV values come from?

The AWP goes 90 → 40 → 10, the SSG 08 goes 90 → 40 → 15, and the AUG and SG 553 approach 45. The AWP and SSG 08 values come from a transcription of the game client, and we take the SCAR-20 and G3SG1 from community descriptions as equal to the SSG 08. We also checked the formula mathematically: 0.818933 falls out exactly from 40° and 90°.

Does it work at every resolution?

Yes. Scope FOVs are defined against 90° at 4:3 and scale with the screen, so the values do not depend on resolution.
