A new wave of GTA 6 material started leaking on August 18 and has kept escalating day by day: clips show Jason driving around Vice City, playing basketball outside his own house, fighting NPCs, and the latest shot is a calm aerial flyover of the city, with the character flipping through radio stations while piloting a crop duster. A leaked full state map followed on top of that. Rockstar and Take-Two haven't officially confirmed the authenticity of any of it.
What actually leaked
The most recent clip shows a sunset flyover of the bay between the Keys and Vice City, with seven aircraft visible in the sky and confirmed parallax interiors, a technical detail that isn't easy to fake without access to the game's engine. Earlier clips from the same wave showed driving through city streets, casual basketball, and NPC fights, material suggesting access to a fully playable build, not just a rendered snippet.
A separate leak is a full state map, dividing it into Lummox, Kelly, Leonard, Vice-Dale, and Mariana counties: a dense, Vice City-style metropolis in the southeast, a huge northern region, central wetlands, several airports, coastal highways, and a chain of southern islands connected by long bridges. If the map is genuine, it would confirm a world scale well beyond what's been shown in official trailers so far.
Why this particular wave deserves more caution than usual
The same wave also includes material that's openly fake, AI-generated, with at least one account admitting to using AI after people online spotted the telltale signs: unnaturally weightless character movement and typos in the faked UI. That makes extra caution more warranted than usual for this specific wave, not every clip labeled "GTA 6 gameplay" actually is, and telling the real material apart from a fake one now takes more than just trusting whoever posted it.
Rockstar keeps consistently taking down leaked material wherever it finds it, but new copies and mirrors show up almost as fast, the exact same pattern that accompanied the massive 2022 leak, just spread this time across smaller, successive waves instead of one enormous data dump.
A coincidence with the official reveal
This leak wave lands right as Rockstar is gearing up for its Netflix reveal, scheduled for August 27, the first time the company has handed a GTA premiere to an outside streaming platform instead of its own channels. Official press showings already happened in July, with the resulting coverage expected to publish "next week," roughly overlapping with the current leak wave.
That timing overlap doesn't have to be a coincidence: the closer to the official reveal, the more people have had contact with early builds during press showings or internal testing, and the more potential leak sources exist. Until August 27, the safest approach is to treat every individual clip with caution no matter how convincing it looks, and wait for the material Rockstar actually confirms as its own.
